Jón Sæmundur Auðarson is born 1968 and lives in Reykjavík, Iceland. He studied at the Icelandic collage of arts & crafts and later at the Glasgow school of Art where he graduated in 2001 with a MFA degree. His works are mostly based on installations where he uses various mediums together, such as paintings, sculptures, videos & music. Death and life has been an important theme in Jón´s work for the past years or ever since he was diagnosed as HIV positive in 1994. He was forced to confront and conquer his fear of death and his most known work is the Dead concept, which he started in 2003 till this day. Dead is focused on life, a paradox intended to shock people into thought. A benign virus. The concept is Dead and alive.
